Brand Name: Examples include Aplisol and Tubersol

Aplisol is used for:

Detecting tuberculosis (TB) infection.

Aplisol is a diagnostic agent. It works by causing a mild, delayed allergic reaction in patients infected with TB or who have had a past infection, which allows for detection of TB.

Do NOT use Aplisol if:

  • you are allergic to any ingredient in Aplisol or you have previously had a severe reaction (eg, sores, skin wasting) to Aplisol

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Before using Aplisol :

Some medical conditions may interact with Aplisol . Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

  • if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
  • if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
  • if you have a viral infection (eg, HIV, chickenpox), known TB infection or a previous positive tuberculin skin test, another bacterial infection (eg, strep throat), cancer, or severe protein deficiency
  • if you have recently been given a live vaccine (eg, measles, flu)

  • Corticosteroids (eg, prednisone), immunosuppressives (eg, certain cancer medicines, cyclosporine), or live vaccines (eg, measles) because the effectiveness of Aplisol may be decreased
