Why is Lac-Hydrin prescribed?
Lac-Hydrin is used in the treatment of dry, scaly skin, including the genetic condition called ichthyosis vulgaris. Available in cream and lotion form, the drug moisturizes the skin and breaks up the scales.

Keep areas treated with Lac-Hydrin out of the sun as much as possible. If you must go outdoors, protect treated areas with clothing.
How should you take Lac-Hydrin?
Shake the lotion well. Apply cream or lotion to the affected areas and rub in thoroughly.

Special warnings about Lac-Hydrin
Use Lac-Hydrin only on the skin. Avoid contact with eyes, lips, or mucous membranes.
If the skin condition worsens, stop using Lac-Hydrin immediately and call your doctor.
Lac-Hydrin may cause stinging and burning when applied to raw or broken skin. Due to the possibility of irritation, use caution when you apply it to the face.
